How to Stay Motivated Throughout Your Weight Loss Journey

If you have ever embarked on a weight loss journey then you will probably know that staying motivated is one of the biggest obstacle that you will face. Everyone starts off a new diet highly motivated but it usually only takes a couple of weeks before you start to lose that motivation and quite often fall back into your old eating habits.

It really becomes difficult if you are the only person in your family that is dieting and you have to watch your family members eating those foods that you love so much. You really can only put up with that for so long before losing all motivation and just giving in to temptation.

This is one of the biggest reasons why most people fail at dieting. They might start out with the best intentions but before long their positive thinking turns into negative thinking and they are soon back to where they started.

So how do you stay motivated?

Here are a few motivating tips to help you stay positive through your weight loss journey:

* Before you start a new diet take a photo of yourself. I know you probably don’t like taking photos, especially full body photos, if you are overweight, but this is the best reminder of how you don’t want to look. Hang the photo up somewhere where you will see it often and give yourself a reminder of why you are on the diet.

* Keep a diary about your diet. Everyday write in your diary all the foods that you had to eat for that day. This can get a little tedious but it is worth it as it helps you to notice when you do have a slip up and eat something bad. Seeing the slip ups in writing can help to keep you on track.

* Enlist the help of your friends and family. Don’t try to hide from them the fact that you are on a diet, they should be proud of you for trying to change. If they know that you are dieting then they can help keep you on track and give you the encouragement you need.

* Find a dieting partner. Dieting is much easier if you’re not doing it alone so if you know someone else that is always trying to lose weight then why not embark on your weight loss journey together. You can share your thoughts, good or bad, and encourage each other. Dieting with a partner helps to keep you motivated because you are also doing it for someone else and not just for yourself.

* Create a blog. Why not tell the world about your weight loss journey. Don’t be embarrassed and try to hide the fact that you are on a diet, there are many people in the same situation as you are. By recording your journey on a blog you can help other people by giving them hope themselves to keep going and it also helps you to stay motivated by seeing your progress written down on your blog.

When you are on a diet there will always be bad days and you will often feel like giving up, but remember that giving up is not an option if you want to lose weight, be healthy and be happy.

When you experience a bad day, write about it in your diary or blog and then move on. Tomorrow will be better and the longer you can continue with your diet the more weight you will see coming off and it will make it all worthwhile in the long term.
